You know how you get up in the morning, pour yourself a cup of coffee, and go back to bed? Do you ever stop and wonder if you’re awake, or if you were dreaming? These are the things I think about every morning. I never sleep because of these thoughts. I wake up and start my day usually by thinking about food and how I want something to taste good.
If you have a morning ritual, this may or may not be one of them. But if you do, try to remember that you are awake, and that you are not just on autopilot. There are a lot of things in life that are unconscious and that you don’t realize you’re doing but you’re not. You can’t control your thoughts when you’re asleep. You can’t control them when you’re awake.
When my friend John was a young man, he had a routine. He would go to work, get his breakfast, go to the post office, get his mail, do some housework, and then go to bed. If he wasn’t sleeping, he would get up and start his day with some thought about what he wanted to eat. He’d eat his cereal as usual, do his work, go to the post office, and then go to bed.
That sounds like you have some kind of a subconscious mind control issue. It’s a bit of a no-brainer. If you have a mind control issue you can do something and it’s totally fine. However you can’t control your thoughts when you are in a state of mind. If you can, you can control your thoughts but they are no longer.
The thing is, some people have a hard time controlling their thoughts when they’re in a state of mind. They have to constantly monitor themselves to make sure they’re using their mind in the right way. That’s why I recommend practicing the art of mindfulness (or “self-awareness”) to your brain.
