This borosilicate glass tea kettle is my favorite tea kettle of all time. It is as simple as it gets and the price of this kettle doesn’t come close to the quality I get from my current kettle.
It’s a nice kettle to have, but it’s not without its flaws. If you’re looking for something that is a complete, all-around bargain I’d say this kettle is probably not for you. In fact, I’d say that any tea kettle with a non-glass lid in which you can see through it is probably not for you. The glass lid allows you to watch your tea brew without having to hold the kettle over your tea cup.
The glass lid is also a safety issue with the kettle, as it can shatter if you drop it. It’s why I avoid using glass tea sets for my tea. I’m not sure if this is true for all tea kettles, though. I have a glass tea set and I dont know how well it works.
The glass lid is a non-issue for me, but I do know that many people do avoid the glass lid on some tea kettles and tea sets because they do not want to get splattered with tea when they drop it.
I have to say that I prefer plastic and glass tea kettles over glass and plastic tea sets because I find them easier to clean. They also last longer.
But for me, the glass lid makes it so much easier to pour tea. I also like the fact that the tea pot is a little more sturdy if I spill tea all over the place. And the plastic lid doesn’t do any of these things so well.
I’m not sure if this is true, but I have heard that glass and plastic are the most durable and most flexible among all kitchen materials. I found that to be true when I recently painted my kitchen cabinets. Glass and plastic are also easier to clean.
And yet, we have come to expect that glass and plastic are the least durable and most fragile among all kitchen materials. Which is why we use both to make tea. My tea pot is made of glass, and I have no idea if it has survived a bath. My teapot is made of plastic, and it is not one I care to open.
I think you’re missing the point of tea. It’s a beverage that has been taken for granted for too long and is rarely made with care. When I made my first tea kettle, I had no idea about the many different kinds of glass, the myriad choices I had to make, or how long it would take to work out the kinks. I was only concerned with how well I could brew my tea.
That said, the tea kettle is made of borosilicate glass so it is light, thin, and easy to handle. The teapot is actually made of ABS plastic so it can be cleaned without damage when necessary and has a great design that makes it easy to clean. The difference between tea pots and teapots is that teapots are used to brew the tea while tea pots are used for preparing the tea.
